Sloka – The Hyderabad Waldorf School, was launched 19 years ago and is currently made up of 625 students, 45 teachers and 30 support staff members. It is a fully established Waldorf School in the beautiful city of Hyderabad. The Waldorf curriculum has been successfully Indianized by our teachers to suit the needs of our children, and is followed until Class 8.
The school has affiliation with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and our students pass out of Class ten with a CBSE certificate. The medium of instruction is English and we offer Hindi/Telugu as second and third languages. Students of Sloka, ace every exam they sit for, get invited to institutes like Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and get recognised in every field they aim for.
Our students have made us proud and their success is a testimony to the hard work put in by our teachers, parents and the entire team. We create trust, bonding and sharing – tools that help our students wherever they go.
In previous years, students like Lohit and Pranav (Batch 2011-12), P.Rakshit Keshav, Anissa.B, Himanshi N, K.K.Aditi (Batch 2015-16), our Alumni have achieved perfect 10/10 GPAs in the Central Board of Secondary Education exams. There are many more bright souls that Sloka has nurtured.
Among them are students like Krithi, Swetha, Ridhi and Rishika who are studying Architecture. Swetha won a scholarship for topping her Entrance Exam. Anahita’s one-minute film won the prestigious Cannes Award in the short film category a few years ago. The list could go on and on…!
We have experienced teachers and mentors coming in from all over the world to help train our teachers continually, so that our standards always remain high. Here in Sloka, we believe in nurturing curiosity. So, read on…and be amazed by the uniqueness of our teaching philosophy.
The Child is the Centre
Steiner education is unique and multidimensional. It appeals to all the faculties in a student. Rather than exceptional proficiency in one aspect, we believe it is the wholesome child that matters. We want personalities who are well developed in all aspects and balanced, whose special gifts are tended to very gently. Anthroposophy – the knowledge of the human being – is the basis of Steiner education. It focuses on a comprehensive understanding of a child. The philosophy is applicable to each student, irrespective of the child’s culture, language, religion or geographical setting.
We at Sloka, try to imbibe creativity and independent thinking. Parents can rest assured that their wards will be taught in a safe and caring atmosphere, that will go a long way in providing a child with the confidence required to excel in life and not just in exams. All this would be impossible without the teachers at Sloka. Steiner Education is very teacher- intensive, so training is provided to them all through the year. Teachers are also given opportunity to attend conferences and mentoring sessions in Waldorf schools, institutions and teacher conferences abroad. Faculty from Waldorf schools across the world visit us and impart training to our teachers and also discuss methods to improve the courses and curriculum. Cultural differences, religion or regional issues do not come into our focus at all. Our community of parents, teachers and sponsors believe in a much elevated world vision that strives to make every student a global citizen.
