“On a typical day, more children can be seen hanging from the trees in our campus than fruits.”
Where the colours of the mind take wing

At Sloka, we combine age-appropriate education with the unique needs of each child.

Here, learning goes hand-in-hand with curiosity. Children are taught to discover themselves and the world around them, awakening their creativity in the process. They are accompanied by the same class teacher from Grade 1 to Grade 8. Through a hands-on teaching methodology, Sloka teachers inspire their students to take a keen interest in everything they learn. Through each main lesson block (2 hours) the child focuses on a single subject over a period of 4-5 weeks and creates their own text book in the process. This approach prepares Sloka's students to be independent thinkers and lifelong learners.

Pioneering Waldorf education in India

Sloka founded the Waldorf movement in India, becoming the first full-fledged Waldorf school in the country in 1997. Sloka’s Indian-adapted, integrated curriculum has since served as a framework for conscious education across the subcontinent.

Cherishing a journey spanning 26 years, today, Sloka is a school of thought unto itself. It is a community of students, teachers, and parents who nurture a lifelong love of learning.

Introducing Grades 11 & 12 at Sloka

On entering the 27th academic year in 2024-25, Sloka is extending the curriculum to the Humanities and Commerce streams for Grades 11 and 12. Collaborating with two principals from reputed schools in Hyderabad, we have created a relevant and exciting mix of subjects for the senior school. We have also had exhaustive sessions with international Waldorf teachers to dovetail the curriculum with CBSE norms.

The Waldorf movement: a worldwide phenomenon

This is a century-old educational philosophy that connects 1200+ schools and kindergartens globally with an emphasis on age-appropriate learning for children. It strives for holistic development by educating the ‘Head, Heart, and Hands' or nurturing the 'Thinking, Feeling and Willing (doing)' faculties in a child. Waldorf education is based on the views of Rudolf Steiner, an Austrian philosopher who believed that the needs of the child are different at various phases of their development, and that education should cater to these needs.

“Our highest endeavour must be to develop free human beings who are able of themselves to impart purpose and direction to their lives. The need for imagination, a sense of truth, and a feeling of responsibility—these three forces are the very nerve of education.”

— Rudolf Steiner
